Surprise! Our hostess called and told us her back had gone out and cancelled dinner. Out came my one last top of the rib from the freezer and a menu was formed. I cooked the meat Thursday so it could chill and I could remove the fat and slice it Friday morning. I also made Mushroom and Barley Soup and the layers for my parent’s anniversary cake in preparation for me to ice it Friday as well. Friday was stacking up to be a busy day.
