Turkey Burgers can be every bit as satisfying as their beef counterpart. My personal preference is white meat turkey which is less fatty than dark meat. In order to replace the moisture the fat provides, I add sauteed onion and celery plus cranberry sauce to the mixture. Grill the burgers until they have grill marks on each side; and then put them in the oven to finish.
Enjoy your Turkey Burgers with guacamole, chutney, salsa, cole slaw or even a bit more cranberry sauce on top. Eat them on a toasted bun or sitting on a bed of rice. Anyway you do it, I hope you’ll enjoy these burgers. I’m a beef burger lover at heart; but these are lighter, healthier and also delicious.

Yield:
- 4 Servings
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oilve oil
- 1 small onion peeled and minced
- 1 long celery stalk cleaned and minced
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 pound ground white meat turkey
- 1/3 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
- 1/4 cup unflavored bread crumbs/matzah meal
- 1 tablespoon teryaki sauce
Equipment
- 1 small skillet or saucepan
- 1 medium mixing bowl
- 1 grill pan
- 1 metal spatula
Directions
- Pour oil into skillet. Heat over medium flame. Add minced onion, celery and salt. Saute vegetables until they are very soft. Let cool.
- Beat egg in mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Mix thoroughly. I wear gloves while doing this. Divide turkey mixture in fourths and make four patties on the flat side.
- Place grill pan on stove top. Heat over medium flame. Add patties and grill three or four minutes. Flip the over and grill on the other side, Both sides should be well browned. Place them in 350 F. oven and bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes. I like to cut a little bit into one of them to be sure they are fully cooked. When done, remove from heat and serve hot on a toasted bun or a bed of rice. Top burger with guacamole, salsa, chutney or more cranberry sauce,
